Match the right product
We use retailer item numbers, barcodes, package sizes and formulations to distinguish products. Similar names do not automatically mean the same food.
Keep the meaning intact
Company policies can explain a sourcing program, but they do not identify every farm or lot. We retain important qualifications and show them where they change an answer.
When sources disagree
A product label and a company-wide statement may cover different foods, places or dates. We keep those limits attached to the answer. An unresolved conflict is marked as conflicting information so you can see what still needs checking.
Make unknowns useful
“Not specified” is an unresolved answer, not proof that a substance was used or absent. A dash means a question is not applicable. Some listings have fewer details than others.
Keep time and place in view
Each product has a research date. Retailer observations may be regional and do not establish current stock. Always check your package for current ingredients, allergens and handling instructions.
